Cleric Among Three Apprehended in Jodhpur on Suspicion of Terror Links


Delhi, 31 October (H.S.): In a significant joint operation on Friday, India's premier security agencies apprehended three individuals, including a local cleric, in Jodhpur on suspicion of being associated with a terrorist organization. The coordinated action was carried out by teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

According to sources, one of the detained individuals has been identified as Ayyub, son of Gaffar, a resident of the Choukha area in Jodhpur. Preliminary information suggests that Ayyub is suspected of involvement in terrorist activities and having connections to an international criminal syndicate. Two other individuals were taken into custody from the Pipar and Sanchore areas as part of the same intelligence-led operation.

It is reported that two of the three men in custody are clerics.The raid on Maulvi Ayyub's residence occurred in the early hours of Friday morning. Officials sealed his room and reportedly seized several crucial documents that are now under intense scrutiny.

Maulvi Ayyub had been a teacher at a local madrasa for the past decade. His family has refuted the allegations, insisting on his innocence and stating that he has always been dedicated to social and religious work with no connection to any illicit activities.

Security agencies are currently conducting intensive interrogations of the suspects to uncover the extent of their network and identify potential contacts. The operation has also led to a significant increase in search campaigns across several locations as authorities treat the matter with high priority.

The detentions have caused a stir in the Choukha area, leading to widespread discussion among local residents.
