
Hyderabad, 29 October (H.S.): Residents of Hyderabad woke up to heavy downpours on Wednesday morning as the impact of Cyclone Montha continued to bring widespread rainfall across Telangana. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more showers for the city and issued an orange alert for several districts of the state.
According to the IMD, many districts are likely to experience very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds. The weather department has also issued a yellow alert for October 30, warning of continued heavy rainfall in isolated places.
Heavy Rains Likely Across Telangana
The Telangana weatherman, known for his accurate forecasts, predicted intense rainfall in northern and central parts of the state as Cyclone Montha moves inland. “Very heavy downpours are expected in Adilabad, Kumurambheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Hanumakonda, Warangal, Jangoan, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, Khammam, and Nagarkurnool with some places likely to record 80–180 mm of rain,” he said.
In Hyderabad, the IMD forecast moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds through the day. Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue until evening, with misty or hazy conditions likely during the morning hours from October 30 to November 1.
Authorities have advised residents to plan their travel accordingly and remain alert to weather updates as waterlogging and traffic disruptions are expected in low-lying areas of the city.
