Gauhati HC issues notice to state govt over APSC scam

Guwahati, 29 October (HS): The Gauhati High Court has issued notices to the Assam government and several Assam Civil Service (ACS) and Assam Police Service (APS) officers in connection with the 2013 APSC recruitment scam.

The court’s directive came after it was revealed that the recommendations of the judicial commission led by Justice (Retd) Biplab Kumar Sharma had not yet been implemented by the state government. Despite the commission’s advice, the appointments of the 2013 batch officers have not been cancelled.

The court has also sent notices to candidates against whom the government has failed to take action, including some who are currently serving in important administrative positions.

Among those who received notices are ACS officers Trideep Roy, Nandita Hazarika, Jagadish Brahma, and Bikramaditya Bora, as well as APS officers Navanita Sharma, Asima Kalita, Rituraj Doley and Amritraj Choudhury.

According to the judicial commission’s report, these officers allegedly secured their jobs through fraudulent means. However, no disciplinary action has been taken against them so far.

The case was filed by Manas Pratim Boruah of Fight Against Justice of APSC, who has been pursuing the matter to ensure accountability in the recruitment scam.
