Chennai, 28 October (H.S.) : The upcoming Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat express train service has been confirmed to include halts at four major textile centers in Tamil Nadu, a decision announced by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday.

During his maiden visit to Coimbatore after assuming office, the Vice President stated that the Railways has consented to his request to include these stoppages, which are primarily aimed at benefiting both the workers and the local industry.

The four textile centers where the high-speed train will stop are Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, and Salem. As an update, the Vice President also announced that the Railways has accepted a second request for a new daily train service from Ranchi in Jharkhand to Coimbatore.

This new service is intended to help workers comfortably reach their workplaces. Both the Vande Bharat service with the new halts and the Ranchi-Coimbatore daily train are scheduled to commence operation soon, as confirmed by Mr. Radhakrishnan at a felicitation event organized by the Coimbatore Citizen Forum.

Addressing the audience, the Vice President said, “The Railways has consented to my two requests. Soon the Ernakulam to Bengaluru Vande Bharat train will halt at the four textile centres of Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Salem for the benefit of the industry.”

He further assured his support for expanding the Coimbatore airport to bring it on par with the Bengaluru airport, citing the move as necessary for greater development in the region.

He also linked regional development to the nation's progress, stating that both industry and agriculture are complimentary, and Tamil Nadu will greatly benefit through the 'Viksit Bharat' program of the Modi-government.
