
Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu declared on Tuesday that climate change is a global crisis that demands immediate and concrete action, asserting that India is firmly determined to address the threat.Inaugurating the eighth session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly in New Delhi, President Murmu described the ISA as a symbol of humanity's shared aspiration to harness solar energy as a source for inclusivity, respect, and collective prosperity.
She highlighted that the alliance is a significant step toward tackling this global challenge by encouraging the widespread adoption and use of solar power.
The President noted that the principle of inclusivity defines India's development journey.
Our experience in illuminating homes in remote areas confirms our belief that energy equity is the foundation of social equity, she stated. She added that access to affordable and clean energy empowers communities, invigorates local economies, and creates opportunities that extend well beyond the simple provision of electricity.
President Murmu urged all member nations to focus beyond infrastructure and concentrate on improving people's lives. She emphasized that solar energy is not merely about power generation but is fundamentally linked to empowerment and inclusive growth.
Concluding her address, the President called for greater dedication in working for the entire world, for the current generation as well as for those to come. She expressed her confidence that the assembly's deliberations and decisions will prove to be a milestone in solar energy production, contributing to the establishment of a more inclusive and equitable global society.
