New Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): The Delhi High Court welcomed three new judges on Tuesday, bringing its total judicial strength to 44. Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya administered the oath of office to Justice Dinesh Mehta, Justice Avnish Jhingan, and Justice Chandra Sekharan Sudha.With these appointments, the court now has 44 judges against a total sanctioned strength of 60.

Justice Mehta and Justice Jhingan were transferred from the Rajasthan High Court, while Justice Sudha joins from the Kerala High Court. The transfer orders for the three justices were issued by President Droupadi Murmu on October 14, following a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium in August to transfer 14 judges across various high courts.Justice Mehta was appointed as a judge of the Rajasthan High Court on November 16, 2016.

Justice Jhingan was initially appointed to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in July 2017 and later transferred to the Rajasthan High Court on November 1, 2023. Justice Sudha was appointed as a judge of the Kerala High Court on October 20, 2021.
