
Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday offered ‘Arghya’ (ritual offering) to the rising Sun at Haathi Ghat, ITO, on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. She was accompanied by Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Laxmi Nagar MLA.
The Chief Minister prayed to Chhathi Maiya for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of Delhi’s 2.5 crore residents. Addressing devotees gathered at the ghat, she said that this year, for the first time, devotees were able to perform rituals along the Yamuna River, thanks to the arrangements made by the Delhi government.
Gupta said,
“In earlier years, devotees were compelled to perform Chhath rituals in scattered places due to lack of facilities. This time, the Delhi government ensured complete arrangements at over 1,300 ghats, including 17 model ghats, so that everyone could celebrate the festival with faith and convenience.”
The Chief Minister expressed joy over the festive spirit in the city, saying,
“This year, Delhi has truly embraced the spirit of Chhath. People across the country are talking about Delhi’s grand celebration. The morning Arghya reminds us that each new day brings a new beginning. Offering prayers to the Sun fills our lives with energy, faith, and discipline.”
Gupta further said that on this pious occasion, the Yamuna River itself has been illuminated with divine energy, symbolizing purity and renewal. She added that the dream of a developed Delhi, along with a developed India, will surely be fulfilled.
