
Bhubaneswar, 25 October (H.S.): A 40-year-old man was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants at Belatuni village under Bhanjanagar block in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Bikram Nayak, a resident of Belatuni village. According to reports, the elephants entered the village late at night, stormed into Nayak’s house, and dragged him outside before killing him.
Upon receiving information, local MLA Pradyumna Kumar Nayak directed the District Forest Officer (DFO) to take immediate action and ensure financial assistance to the victim’s family as per government provisions.
The tragic incident has triggered panic among villagers, who have expressed growing concern over the rising incidents of human-elephant conflict in the region.
