Guwahati, 25 October (HS): In view of the upcoming Chhath Puja festival, special traffic regulations and restrictions will be enforced across Guwahati city from 11 AM on October 27 to 11 AM on October 28.

During this period, the movement of all commercial and heavy vehicles will remain prohibited within city limits. Only vehicles carrying Puja materials and devotees will be allowed on MG Road (from Machkhowa Point to Chief Justice’s Bungalow Point). Slow-moving vehicles such as handcarts, rickshaws, and pony carts will also be restricted, except those transporting Puja materials.

City buses coming from Khanapara towards Bharalumukh will operate via GS Road and AT Road and will not take a turn from Panbazar ROB. Heavy vehicles, inter-district buses, and ASTC rural buses coming from Jalukbari side will not be allowed to enter the city and will be diverted via NH-27.

Only four-wheelers carrying devotees will be permitted; six-wheel vehicles will remain banned. Two-way traffic will be allowed on HB Road (from Shani Mandir to Panbazar Police Point).

No vehicles will be allowed to park inside Lachit Ghat. Vehicles from Bharalumukh heading towards Panbazar or Chandmari will be diverted via Machkhowa–HB Road (through TRP Road) or AT Road. Vehicles from Chandmari will turn towards HB Road from NB Hall Point.

Light vehicles from Uzanbazar/Latasil heading towards Bharalumukh will move via Planetarium Point, Lamb Road, FC Road, Tayyabullah Point, and GNB Road, passing NB Hall.

Devotees’ and Puja material vehicles coming from Bharalumukh can park along Laxmi Gali, Chamber Road, MS Road, SRCB Road, and the market side of MG Road. At Sonaram Higher Secondary School Ghat, all vehicles will be parked inside the field.

Parking will be strictly prohibited on AT Road (from Bharalumukh to the southern end/ of Panbazar Overbridge) from 7 AM on October 27 until the completion of Puja on October 28. No parking will be allowed on MLN Road, ARB Road, SS Road, SRCB Road, HB Road, and TRP Road as well.

Heavy vehicles and trucks will not be allowed to park on TRP Road, Laxmi Gali, Chamber Road, SRCB Road, Kedar Road, or MS Road.

Authorities have urged Puja committees not to allow parking near Puja sites and to display boards marking designated parking areas. Committees are advised to deploy adequate volunteers to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Devotees have been requested to park vehicles systematically and avoid inconvenience to other road users.--------
