(HS): Agra Police rescued a four-year-old youngster who had been kidnapped on Friday
afternoon following a late-night encounter that injured two of the accused,
officials said Saturday. The incident
occurred late Friday night in the Etmaduddaula area, when Sabir and
Satyaprakash were shot, according to reports. According to ACP Piyushkant Rai,
Gagan, the boy's uncle, plotted to kidnap Jai with three accomplices. The boy
was on his way to his grandmother's house, which is close to his house in Garhi
Chandni, when one of the kidnappers enticed him under false pretenses, according
to the officer. Sonu, Jai's father and a goldsmith by trade, said he received a
ransom call immediately after.
Following the
report, multiple teams were formed.
Fearing arrest, the accused abandoned the youngster near his home at 9
p.m. and fled, according to the officer. While police were able to apprehend
two of the accused during an encounter, Gagan and Aakash remain at large, and
efforts are underway to apprehend them, the ACP stated. The youngster has been
safely returned to his family, he said.
