Guwahati, 24 October (HS): The two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police investigating the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg has returned from Singapore. Team chief Munna Prasad Gupta and IPS officer Tarun Goyal reached Guwahati on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Gupta informed that he met a five-member official police team in Singapore on October 21 to discuss the case. He said the SIT requested Singapore Policel to interrogate a person residing there who is linked to the incident and shares the details within ten days.

Gupta also stated that he visited the sea area in Singapore where a crucial part of the investigation is focused.

Regarding Zubeen Garg’s two arrested bodyguards, Gupta clarified that they were held in connection with a disproportionate assets case being separately probed by the CM Vigilance.

He added that the Baksa incident is being investigated by local police, not by the SIT. When asked about specific findings in the Zubeen Garg case, Gupta declined to comment, citing the ongoing nature of the probe.

It is noteworthy that both officers had left for Singapore on October 20. SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta also mentioned that Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, was summoned to the CID office today to record her statement.--------
