Banda, 24 Oct
(HS): The absconding accused in the murder case of history-sheeter Munna Yadav
in the Mataundh police station area of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh has
been arrested along with his father and another accomplice. An illegal pistol,
live cartridges, two mobile phones, and Rs. 400 in cash were recovered from the accused.
Additional
Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shivraj said on Friday regarding the incident
that the arrested accused includes Pradeep, his son Manish and Ganga. All three
are residents of village Triveni. The ASP said that on the afternoon of October
22, during the Diwari dance, after a minor altercation, Manish fired a shot
from a pistol. The bullet directly hit history-sheeter Munna Yadav in the chest
and he died on the spot. Manish has been a person with criminal tendencies for
a long time. He has several charges against him like theft, robbery and
intimidation. There is resentment among the villagers due to lack of action
despite several complaints.
Villagers say
that Manish joined a social organization a few years ago, after which action
against him was often put on hold. Due to the interference of influential
people associated with the organization, the police often suppressed his cases.
Now, Manish was seen accompanying police officers and sometimes even
participating in police patrols. The ASP stated that all three accused have
been arrested and sent to jail. Police reinforcements have been deployed in the
village in response to the tension.
