Patna, 24 October (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) election campaign for the Bihar Assembly polls, beginning his tour in Samastipur's Karpoori Gram where he paid floral tributes to the late Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur.
Addressing a public rally in Samastipur, Prime Minister Modi asserted that a strong NDA government would be formed in Bihar once again, stating that the public bestows its blessings when intentions are pure and policies are in the nation's interest.
Attacking Tejashwi and Lalu Yadav, Prime Minister Modi declared that Bihar would not return to the era of 'jungle raj' (lawlessness). He recalled that it was in October 2005 when Bihar was liberated from 'jungle raj' and an era of good governance began under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
He accused the Congress-RJD coalition, which was in power at the Center for 10 years, of creating numerous obstacles and preventing any work from being done in the state. He said that Nitish Kumar pulled Bihar out of a difficult situation and that the state is now in a new era.
There isn't a single corner where development work is not happening; wherever you go, development is underway. Work on electricity, water, and gas is progressing, which fosters prosperity and creates employment opportunities for all, he stated.
PM Modi told the gathering that in the last 11 years, the public has repeatedly given the NDA a chance in state after state. He cited recent electoral victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand, where the NDA returned to power with increased mandates.
All records were broken in Gujarat. We got another chance in UP and Uttarakhand, he said, asserting that these examples demonstrate that the NDA is a guarantee of development. Seeing your enthusiasm, it seems that under the leadership of Nitish Babu, the NDA will break all victory records in Bihar, he added.
The Prime Minister began his speech in the Maithili language, thanking the large crowd for attending amidst the festive season. Before coming here, I went to Karpoori Gram. I had the opportunity to pay my respects to the 'Jannayak' (People's Leader) and Bharat Ratna, Karpoori Thakur, the Prime Minister said.
Karpoori Thakur played a monumental role in bringing social justice to independent India. He was a priceless gem of Mother India. Our government had the honor of conferring the Bharat Ratna upon him.
PM Modi highlighted that the NDA government is providing free medical treatment, piped water, and other facilities, making social justice the foundation of good governance.
He noted that the NDA extended reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and introduced reservations for the poor and backward classes in medical education. He also pointed out that his government has prioritized OBCs and, inspired by Karpoori Thakur's advocacy for education in local languages, is ensuring that even the most deprived can study in their mother tongue.
In a sharp contrast, he criticized the opposition. On the other hand, you know better what the opposition is saying. They are out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores. Those who are on bail are also trying to steal the title of 'Jannayak,' and we will not tolerate this.
