Patna, 24 October (H.S.): With just ten days remaining until the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his campaign trail in the state on Friday by visiting the ancestral village of former Chief Minister and social justice icon, Karpoori Thakur.

Before addressing scheduled election rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai, the Prime Minister traveled to Karpoorigram in the Samastipur district to pay his respects to the late leader, affectionately known as 'Jan-Nayak' or the people's leader.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, PM Modi met with Thakur's family members and offered a tribute at his birthplace.

Following the visit, the Prime Minister is set to address a large public gathering at the airport ground in Dudhpura, Samastipur. This event marks his first official election program in Bihar since the announcement of the poll dates, signaling an intensification of campaign activities by all political parties aiming to sway voters.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Modi had virtually inaugurated the Karpoori Thakur Skill University. During that event, he remarked, No social media team made Karpoori Thakur a Jan-Nayak—the people of Bihar did, and urged citizens to remain vigilant against attempts to hijack this revered identity for political gain.
