
Delhi, 24 October (H.S.): In a significant diplomatic and economic push,Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal, held a series of high-level meetings in Germany on Friday to fortify India's trade relationships with key European partners. The day's agenda included a pivotal discussion with Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade Xavier Bettel, followed by strategic one-on-one sessions with leaders of major German corporations.
The meeting between Minister Goyal and Deputy Prime Minister Bettel served as a comprehensive review of the progress in India-Luxembourg economic relations. Both leaders explored further avenues to strengthen bilateral trade and business ties, while also discussing an upcoming State Visit to India and pertinent regional and global developments.
Continuing his diplomatic outreach, Goyal engaged with the titans of German industry to foster increased collaboration. His individual discussions included prominent CEOs such as Jochen Hanebeck of Infineon Technologies AG, Klaus Rosenfeld of Schaeffler Group, Michael Masur of Renk Vehicle Mobility, Martin Herrenknecht of Herrenknecht AG, Tobias Bischof-Niemz of Enertrag, and Ola Kaellenius of Mercedes Benz.
These conversations focused on identifying synergies and prospective collaborations in critical sectors vital to both nations, including defence, energy, emerging technologies, and mobility.
The German business leaders reiterated their optimistic outlook on India's commercial landscape and affirmed their commitment to enhancing their economic partnerships with the country.
Friday's engagements were a continuation of Minister Goyal's high-level meetings from the previous day, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Chancellery.
Later on Friday, the minister was scheduled to join a high-level panel on global trade at the Berlin Global Dialogue and continue his engagements with German business and industry associations. This visit is particularly notable as 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership.
