Bareilly, 24
Oct (HS): Dr. Nafees, accused in the Bareilly riots, is in jail. Meanwhile,
another report has been filed against him, naming his wife as an accused. This
case relates to Waqf property. Another case was filed at the Kotwali police
station against Dr. Nafees, a close associate of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan,
accused of instigating the riots in Bareilly. Dr. Nafees' wife, Farhat Begum,
is also an accused in the case. This action was taken based on a petition filed
by Mohammad Qamar Akhtar, a resident of Peerbahoda and a resident of Mohalla
414 Sahukara, near Rajo Wali Masjid. The case relates to the creation of a fake
gift deed and the subsequent occupation of Waqf property. Kotwali police
station in-charge Amit Kumar Pandey stated that Maulana Tauqeer, his party's
general secretary and spokesperson, Dr. Nafees, and other accused are in jail
in connection with the September 26 riots in the city. Mohammad Qamar Akhtar
had submitted a petition to the SSP. He told the SSP that his grandmother,
Nanho Kujdi, owned a 95-square-yard house in Waqf No. 26-A in Bamnpuri, with
five shops below it.
His distant
grandmother used to run a vegetable shop for a living. His grandfather Sabir
Hussain's vegetable shop was in the Qutubkhana vegetable market. Because of
this, Nanho used to visit his grandfather's shop. Nanho considered his
grandfather Sabir Hussain as his brother. Before his death, Nanho had
bequeathed the property with Waqf number 26-A to his grandfather Sabir Hussain
and his three sons, Shakir Hussain, Zakir Hussain, and Nasir Hussain.
Fraudulently
prepared fake documents: Mohammad Qamar Akhtar said that his father, Shakir Hussain,
a resident of Kangi Tola, used to visit the eyeglasses shop of Dr. Nafees
located in Qutubkhana. Dr. Nafees, taking his father into confidence, took the
property with Waqf number 26-A on lease in the name of his wife Farhat Begum
for 30 years in the year 1996. When his father died in the year 2022, Dr.
Nafees and his wife Farhat Begum fraudulently prepared fake documents and got a
gift deed of the property with Waqf number 26-A made in the name of their two
sons, Mohammad Nauman Khan and Mohammad Farhan Khan.
They all
still occupy that property. Mohammad Qamar Akhtar has demanded that the Waqf
No. 26-A property be returned to him and that legal action be taken against the
culprits. Kotwali Police Station Officer Amit Kumar Pandey on Friday stated
that a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated. Dr.
Nafees is already in jail.
