JAISALMER, Rajasthan, 24 October (H.S.): On Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in the border district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, for a significant strategic visit. After departing from the Tanot helipad, he proceeded to the historic Longewala war site to commence his tour.

Upon reaching Longewala, the Defence Minister is scheduled to pay homage to the fallen soldiers at the war memorial and interact with Indian Army personnel stationed at the border.

A key part of his agenda includes a comprehensive review of the region's operational preparedness. This assessment will cover real-time military deployments and an evaluation of the army's technical capabilities along the frontier.

Following his engagement at the border, Singh will attend the Army Commanders' Conference held at the Jaisalmer Army Cantonment. This high-level meeting will bring together the military's top brass, including the Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, to deliberate on critical national security issues.

The conference will focus on national defense strategy, border security, and extensive military reforms.A central topic of discussion at the conference will be the 'Agniveer scheme,' with a focus on matters such as the permanent appointment of Agniveers and the formulation of future military policy.

The visit is widely regarded as a crucial step toward reinforcing the security infrastructure along the border and elevating the morale of the armed forces.
