Arunachal raid near Myanmar border busts ULFA-I supply chain; four suppliers held

Itanagar 24 October (HS): In a coordinated operation near the Myanmar border, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh arrested four individuals and seized a large stock of medical supplies and other goods allegedly meant for ULFA-I operatives.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team led by the Additional SP (HQ), along with Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Indian Army, launched a targeted raid in the Nampong area of Changlang district.

Investigators revealed that the crackdown followed information that ULFA-I’s SS Major General Arunodoi Dohutia had sought medicines and essential supplies from a resident of Tinsukia, Assam.

Those apprehended include 50-year-old Jitu Moran alias Moina of Hukani Gaon (Bordubi), Julie Gogoi (38), a grocery shop owner in Nampong since 2001, her husband Dipak Gogoi (52) of Parbatipur (Jagun) and Yanshay Sokrang of Pangsau, Myanmar.

Officials further confirmed that four Myanmarese nationals were also detained for allegedly helping transport goods to ULFA-I camps across the international border. The confiscated materials comprised a significant quantity of medical and essential items, exposing the insurgent outfit’s cross-border supply network.

Authorities asserted that such operations will continue as part of the ongoing drive to dismantle ULFA-I’s logistical chains and curb smuggling activities in the sensitive frontier region.------
