Nagpur, 22 Oct (HS): As many as 17 fires in Nagpur
city were reported to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Fire Brigade during
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. A major fire was at a Reliance Smart Store
in Laxminagar area, which consumed goods worth lakhs of rupees. The fire broke
out after the mall was closed on Tuesday. Six fire tenders were engaged in
controlling the fire.
In most of the cases uncontrolled fire crackers are
suspected to have caused the fire. In other incidents vehicles, residential
homes, shops, plant nurseries and garbage dumps caught the fire.
No casualties have been reported so far. The
question about fire safety at big stores and instructions about bursting fire
crackers are being raised. The exact cause of the fires have not been
mentioned. Fireworks in crowded places are not uncommon during the Diwali
festival.
