Guwahati, 21 October (HS): Amid Diwali celebrations, six separate fire incidents were reported across Assam, causing significant property damage though no casualties have been reported so far.

According to reports, major fire incidents occurred in Dhubri town, Mangaldoi, Bilasipara (Dhubri), Diphu in Karbi Anglong district, Rangajan market in Golaghat district and Raniaganj area of Dhubri.

In Dhubri town’s Bakar Market, 14 shops were reduced to ashes, with estimated losses amounting to ₹50–70 lakh. Two nearby buildings also sustained damage in the blaze.

In Mangaldoi under Darrang district, two houses belonging to Satyavati Kalita and Pusht Mangal were gutted after a gas cylinder explosion triggered a massive fire at Prafulla Nagar locality.

Meanwhile, Bilasipara town witnessed two separate fire incidents in Subhashpalli and Raniaganj. In Raniaganj, houses belonging to Bishwanath Chauhan and Jiten Chauhan were completely destroyed, while in Subhashpalli, a cylinder blast at Nepal Mandal’s house intensified the fire, causing losses worth around ₹10 lakh.

In Diphu town of Karbi Anglong, three shops were completely gutted in an early morning blaze at the local market, resulting in heavy financial losses.

Similarly, at Rangajan market in Golaghat district, 8–10 shops were destroyed in fire. Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control after several hours of effort.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact causes of the fires and investigations are underway.--------
