Nashik, 21 Oct (HS): Farmers in Nashik blocked Nashik-Tryambakeshwar
Road protesting the Maharashtra Government for acquiring farmers’ land for the
six-lane road for the coming Simhasta Kumbh Mela. The traffic on the road
resumed after the local administration convinced the farmers.
The land acquisition started six days ago by the
Nashik Development Authority. The land is not encroached one and belong to local
farmers. The farmers staged protest on Tuesday.
MLA Hiraman Khoskar said the agitation will be
intensified later. The farmers feel that they are being cheated by the
government authorities. They decided to observe ‘Black Diwali’ this year as a
part of their protest. Khoskar led the agitation. The agitation was temporarily
withdrawn following assurance by the Nashik Development Authority to ensure justice
to the farmers.
