21 Oct (HS): On Police Commemoration Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath complimented the state police for their significant efforts in crime
control and social peace. Initiatives include greater financing for police
welfare, updated recruit training, and the establishment of new specialized
units, with an emphasis on improving women's safety and anti-corruption
measures. On Police Commemoration Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath paid homage to dead police personnel at the Lucknow Reserve Police
Line, praising the state police for their outstanding work in preserving law
and order and social peace. Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
stated that, despite exceedingly difficult conditions, the state police had
emphasized their duties, commendably reducing crime and ensuring social calm.
As
the Prayagraj Magh Mela 2026 approaches, the UP Police, together with central
and other security agencies, have demonstrated outstanding devotion and
discipline, setting high standards for security and order. The government has
set aside significant amounts for the comfort and convenience of police,
including Rs 3.5 crore for deployment and Rs 8 crore for their well-being. The
Chief Minister emphasized support for police and their families, announcing
financial incentives for those stationed in various areas, as well as
assistance for families of fallen officers. The Life Saving Fund has provided
Rs 6.64 crore to 170 workers in order to provide urgent medical care. In
addition, Rs 11 crore was paid out under a life insurance policy to the
beneficiaries of 374 dead officials.
The
Ministry of Home Affairs has awarded the Service Medal to 763 officers for
exceptional service. Initiatives include inducting 60,244 recruits who will get
sophisticated training to instill fear of the law in offenders. Efforts to modernize the police force focus
on technical advances and service-oriented capabilities, such as women-friendly
police stations, economic crime units, anti-human trafficking units, and
nationwide internet help centers. He
also targeted women's safety by establishing police stations in certain
locations and specialized units such as the UPSSC in various cities, with the
goal of strengthening law enforcement capacities.
