Bareilly, 21 Oct (HS): Siraj Ahmad, a 50-year-old man from Uttar
Pradesh, was detained on drug trafficking accusations. Over 4 kilograms of
morphine worth Rs 4.15 crore was recovered from a lorry. Ahmad was a member of an interstate network
that sourced narcotics from Nagaland.
His accomplice is still missing.
According to police sources, Siraj Ahmad hails from Shahjahanpur and has
been identified as a key actor in the interstate drugs network. He allegedly acquired the narcotics from
Nagaland and peddled them throughout Uttar Pradesh. A police unit halted the vehicle on Dohra
Road late at night, leading to the arrest.
During interrogation, Ahmad revealed the role of his collaborator,
Surendra Sharma, who is thought to be the network's mastermind and is still at
large.
