Mumbai, 18 Oct (HS): The Maharashtra Government's Persons with Disatbilities (Divyang) Welfare Department has issued a notification retaing the rules to be followed by the social organisations working for welfare, rehabilitation, development and empowerment of the People with Disabilities (PwP).
The Act was first introduced
and enforced in 1995 and in 2016 additional provisions were made in the Act for
extending the PwD opportunities and protecting their rights.
The attempt to to
include the disabled persons into the main stream of life. The social
organisations are expected to ensure their registration, periodical inspection,
quality of services, and transparency.
The application for
renewal of the registration of social organisations must be filed before 60
days of the date of expiry. Any kind of irregularities in providing required
services or financial irregularities will invite stern action, including
cancellation of the registration.
