Bhubaneswar, 18 October (H.S.): One person was killed and seven others sustained critical injuries after a four-wheeler rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway-26 near Jamsar in Bolangir district late Friday night.
According to police sources eight people, including the driver, were travelling from Tumura village in Kalahandi district to Burla for medical treatment. After completing their visit and being discharged, they were returning home when their vehicle collided with a parked truck on the roadside near Jamsar.
The deceased has been identified as Kabiram Jagat. The injured were initially rushed to Bolangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) by Fire Department personnel and police, who arrived promptly at the scene and carried out the rescue operation.
As the condition of the injured worsened, they were later shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.
