Bhubaneswar, 18 October (H.S.): The Commissionerate Police have announced strict regulations for Diwali celebrations this year, with the deadline for bursting firecrackers set at 9 PM, an hour earlier than in previous years. Only green crackers are permitted, while firecrackers producing loud noise will be prohibited.

Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena also warned that driving under the influence of alcohol during the festival will attract severe action, including vehicle seizure and arrest. The directive has been issued to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during the festivities.

Patrol teams will be deployed across all police station jurisdictions to enforce the rules. The Commissionerate Police has also issued an awareness message urging residents to adhere to the guidelines and maintain a safe and orderly Diwali, sources confirmed.
