Delhi, 17 October (H.S.): NITI Aayog hosted a high-level delegation led by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Nireka Amarasuriya, on October 16 to reinforce strategic collaboration and share insights on India’s key national initiatives. The visit aimed to deepen the partnership between the two nations across several critical sectors.

During the meeting, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister commended NITI Aayog for its pivotal role as a policy think tank that effectively connects long-term vision with practical, on-ground implementation. She expressed significant interest in adopting a similar institutional framework to promote policy coherence and evidence-based governance in Sri Lanka.

The discussions, chaired by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman K. Bery, provided a comprehensive overview of India’s transformative programs. Key areas included the PM Gati Shakti national master plan for multimodal infrastructure, the holistic framework of the National Education Policy 2020, and advancements in frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence.

The dialogue also covered opportunities for enhancing tourism and strengthening bilateral trade through the Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA).The visit concluded with both nations reaffirming their commitment to a technology-driven and people-centric partnership, underscoring the shared vision under India's 'Neighbourhood First' and 'MAHASAGAR' policies.
