Commissionerate Police Recommends Cancellation of RCs for 258 Habitual Traffic Violators

Bhubaneswar, 16 October (H.S.) : In a major crackdown on habitual traffic offenders, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has recommended the cancellation of registration certificates (RCs) of 258 vehicle owners who have repeatedly violated traffic norms.

The move comes in compliance with a directive issued by the State Transport Authority (STA), Cuttack, aimed at curbing persistent traffic rule violations in the Twin City.

In the first phase, the Commissionerate Police has also urged the transport authorities to cancel the fitness certificates of vehicles owned by these offenders.

According to an official statement, the recommendation follows a detailed review that revealed several vehicle owners consistently disobey traffic regulations and have failed to clear pending fines despite repeated notices.

Meanwhile, the STA, Odisha, has instructed all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) across the state to blacklist vehicles belonging to repeat offenders and initiate necessary proceedings to cancel their Registration and Fitness Certificates.
