Kolkata, 15 October (H.S.): The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, has accelerated the booth mapping process under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. Data from Jhargram, Paschim Medinipur, and Alipurduar districts have already been uploaded to the Election Commission’s official website, a senior official said on Wednesday morning.
According to the official, booth mapping in Paschim Medinipur district has reached 62.94 percent completion, while Jhargram and Alipurduar have achieved 51.36 percent and 53.73 percent, respectively. The process is progressing swiftly in several other districts as well.
So far, Purulia has completed 61.29 percent of the mapping work, Kalimpong 64.27 percent, Malda 54.49 percent, and Kolkata North 55.35 percent. In North 24 Parganas, the process has reached around 45 percent, while in South 24 Parganas it stands between 50 and 55 percent.
The data compilation, the official noted, is being carried out in accordance with the 2002 SIR standards. Voters in districts where data has already been uploaded can now verify their details online using their EPIC numbers.
The booth mapping process has been expedited ahead of the Diwali holidays, beginning October 18. All district magistrates, who also serve as district election officers, have been directed to complete the work at the earliest. The initial internal deadline for the exercise was October 15.
