Darang (Assam), 07 January (HS): A tragic road accident in Gwaljhar area of Sipajhar plunged the entire area into mourning. A sixth class student named Kakumani Deka was going with her father on a bicycle, when she killed on the spot in an accident.

The accident took place on the College Chowk-Laujan connecting road, when a 16-wheeled truck (NL-02Q-8474), which was carrying Hume pipes of a private company, illegally entered the road and hit the student.

After the accident, angry locals created a tense atmosphere in the area and also questioned the role of the police while chasing the truck driver. The police have seized this truck running without a permit and taken the driver into custody.
