The police of Burdwan police station have arrested two people from Singur in Hooghly district in connection with making passports on fake documents.
A police official said on Sunday that the two arrested persons have been identified as Ganesh Chakraborty and Anirban Samanta. The police have taken the accused into custody after presenting them in the Burdwan court and efforts are being made to get more information from them.
According to police sources, Rinka Das, a resident of Burdwan, had applied for a passport. While checking the documents of that passport, the police came to know that Rinka's birth certificate was fake. During interrogation of Rinka, the name of a person named Swaroop Roy of Burdwan city came to light. Rinka was arrested on December 19. Swaroop was also arrested. After interrogating them, the police came to know that Ganesh Chakraborty and Anirban Samant of Singur had given these fake certificates. After that, the police of Burdwan police station raided Singur and arrested Ganesh Chakraborty and Anirban Samant on charges of making fake documents. Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) of Burdwan, Ark Bandyopadhyay said that after taking both of them into custody, efforts are being made to find out whether anyone else is involved in this gang or not.
