New Delhi, 2 January (H.S.): The domestic stock market was able to close strongly on Thursday due to excellent GST collection figures, boom in IT sector and expectation of good quarterly results. Today's trading also started with a gain. As soon as the market opened, there was selling pressure for some time, but after a while buyers started buying all around, due to which there was a tremendous increase in the movement of the stock market. Due to this rise, the Sensex jumped more than 1,525 points. Similarly, Nifty also jumped more than 483 points in intra-day. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a strength of 1.83 percent and Nifty 1.88 percent. All sectoral indices managed to close strongly during the day's trading today. Among them, the automobile index closed with a gain of 3.79 percent. Similarly, the IT index jumped by 2.26 percent. The Tech index ended today's trading with a gain of 2.19 percent and the Consumer Durable index ended with a gain of 2.02 percent. Apart from this, banking, public sector enterprise, oil and gas, FMCG, metal and realty indices also managed to close with good strength. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.89 percent. Similarly, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.68 percent.

Due to the strength in the stock market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 6 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 450.44 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. On the last trading day i.e. Wednesday, their market capitalization was Rs 444.43 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 6.01 lakh crore from today's trading.

Today, during the day's trading, there was active trading in 4,058 shares in BSE. Out of these, 2,395 shares closed with a gain, while 1,574 shares showed a decline, while 89 shares closed without any fluctuation. Today, there was active trading in 2,519 shares in NSE. Out of these, 1,624 shares closed in the green mark after making a profit and 895 shares closed in the red mark after suffering a loss. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in the Sensex, 29 shares closed with a gain and 1 share closed with a decline. While out of the 50 shares included in the Nifty, 48 shares closed in the green mark and 2 shares closed in the red mark.

The BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 150.11 points at 78,657.52 points. As soon as the trading started, due to the selling pressure, the index slipped to 78,542.37 points in a short while, but after this the buyers took over. With the support of buying, this index started climbing up. There was also profit booking in between. Despite this, the movement of this index remained steadily bullish. With the support of continuous buying, half an hour before the end of today's trading, this index jumped 1,525.46 points to reach the level of 80,032.87 points. However, due to slight selling in the last half hour of trading, this index slipped about 90 points from the upper level and closed at 79,943.71 points with a gain of 1,436.30 points. Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today with a gain of 40.10 points at 23,783 points. As soon as the market opened, due to selling pressure, the index fell to 23,751.55 points within the first 10 minutes. After this, the bulls completely took over the market. Due to continuous buying, the index managed to jump by 483.80 points and reach 24,226.70 points shortly before the end of today's trading. However, due to minor profit booking after this, the Nifty fell by about 40 points from the upper level and closed at 24,188.65 points with a gain of 445.75 points. After the whole day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Eicher Motors joined the list of today's top 5 gainers with a strength of 8.65 percent, Bajaj Finserv 7.88 percent, Bajaj Finance 6.54 percent, Maruti Suzuki 5.65 percent and Shriram Finance 4.84 percent. On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical joined the list of today's top losers with a decline of 0.63 percent and Britannia 0.14 percent.
