Kolkata, 14 January (H.S.) - A tragic incident in Murshidabad’s Shamsherganj area has claimed the life of a 52-year-old teacher, Safiul Alam. He was brutally attacked by a local youth, allegedly angered by the teacher’s decision to transfer his daughter to another school for her safety. After battling for his life for 25 days, Safiul succumbed to his injuries on Monday night at a Kolkata hospital.
Safiul Alam, a teacher at a private school in Ratanpur, was concerned for his daughter’s safety after she reported being harassed by a local youth, Ahad Sheikh, on her way to school. Despite confronting the youth, the harassment continued, prompting Safiul to transfer his daughter to another school.
This enraged Ahad, who, around 25 days ago, attacked Safiul with a knife while he was returning home in the evening. The accused fled after stabbing him multiple times. Locals rushed Safiul to a nearby hospital, but as his condition worsened, he was transferred to R.G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata, where he passed away.
