Dhaka, 02 Sep (HS): As many as 17 ministers and
nine Members of Parliament in the Sheikh Hasina government have been banned to
undertake any foreign tour. The orders were issued by the Senior Judge of a special
court in Dhaka Mohammad Jaglul Hussain on Monday based on charges of corruption
and irregularities against them.
Dhaka’s newspaper ‘Prothom Alo’ reported that the
ban has been imposed following a complaint lodged by the Public Prosecutors of
Anti-Corruption Commission Mir Ahmad Ali Salam and Mahmud Hussain Jahangir,
saying that the Election Commission is conducting an inquiry into the charges
against them.
The court on August 29 imposed a similar ban on nine
former ministers and five parliamentarians. Former Home Minister Asaduzzama
Khan, his wife and son were prevented from leaving the country on Sunday by a
court order.
