Kathmandu, 18 Sep (HS): The Nepal Supreme Court has

banned the screening of all films in Hindi and other foreign languages that

insults Nepal’s religious faith, including scenes and dialogues. The Film

Censor Board has been granted all rights to ban such films.

The verdict was delivered following controversy over the Indian film Prabhas’s ‘Adipurush’. The Supreme Court said that the film showed

distorted historical facts hurting the feelings of Hindu people of Nepal. A

large number of people opposed the screening of the film and also moved the court.

Justice Prakash Dhungana and Justice Manoj Sharma of

the Supreme Court decided in favour of the writ petition filed by Adv Anita

Sapkota. The Censor Board has also been directed to ensure that any film

should not affect Nepal’s relations with the neighbouring or other countries.
