Kathmandu, 16 Sep (HS): Former Deputy Prime
Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane has been held guilty in the
cooperative scandal.
The report by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) with
adequate evidence submitted the inquiry report on Monday. The Committee has
recommended legal action against Lamichhane and his commercial associate G B
Rai. The legal action would be initiated after the report is presented in the
Parliament, Speaker Devraj Ghimire said.
Lamichhane is charged with crores of rupees drawn
from cooperative societies illegally for investment in his media house. Member
of the Parliament Surya Thapa led the JPC and named the cooperative societies
from where Lamichhane took the money. The JPC in his report stated that about
Rs 9 core were illegally used by Lamichhane for his media house. Despite
evidence of involvement in the scandal, Lamichhane had expressed innocence
relating to signatures on documents, cheques, and financial transactions. The
JPC submitted documents bearing his signatures during financial transactions.
