Washington, 14 Sep (HS):- Criticising both Donald
Trump and Kamala Harris, Pope Francis appealed to the people to elect the ‘Lesser
of the two evils’. Ex-President Donald Trump is against immigrants and
Vice-President Kamala Harris supporting abortion rights.
Pope described Trump’s stance on immigration and
Harris’ support for abortion rights as contrary to the value of life. During a
press conference aboard the Papal plane, Francis remarked “One must choose the
lesser of the two evils. Who is the lesser of two evils? That lady or that gentleman?
I don’t know.” He urged voters to reflect deeply upon their decision.
The New York Times reported that 87-year-old Pope
Francis made the comments while returning to Rome from his Southeast Asia and
Oceania tour. He was on an 11-day Asia-Pacific tour during which he stayed at
Jakarta, East Timor, and Singapore.
Pope said not allowing immigrant people to live and
killing a life in the womb is cruelty.
Replying to a question about the situation in Gaza, Pope
said seeing dead bodies of children and knowing about the bombing a school is
horrific. “I do not see any step towards establishing peace”.
