Kathmandu, 01 Aug (HS): Nepal stopped the telecast of
four Indian television channels on Thursday for non-payment of dues. Nepal
stopped showing Zee-Network, Soni Network, Star Group, and Colors channels.
The Spokesperson of Information and Broadcasting
Ministry Gajendra Thakur informed the media about the decision and added that
the issue is being resolved. He expressed hope that the problem would be
sorted out by the evening.
According to Thakur, the company that bought
extension rights failed to clear dues for the last three months, leading to the withdrawal of the telecast.
Chairperson of Nepal’s biggest DTD Company Dish Home
Devi Prakash Bhattchan said the telecast was stopped due to the Government’s
policy. The payment was stopped by the National Bank, which has not allowed the
exchange facility.
