Kathmandu, 31 July (HS): Several areas of
Tripureshwar, Kalimati, and Teku are under water as Bagmati River is flooded
following heavy rains in Kathmandu since Tuesday night. The regions on the banks
of Bagmati were submerged.
According to the Meteorological Department tributaries
of Bagmati, including Hanumante, Manohara, Dhobikhola, Vishnumati, Nakkhu, and Balkhu are flowing above the danger mark. Vehicular traffic in these regions
has been affected.
The office of the ruling UNM Party’s central office
in Kathmandu is also under water. Shankhmul Park and Kalimati Vegetable Market
were inundated. Manohara and Mahadev rivers are overflowing and have caused
damage in several villages.
Police Inspector of Bhaktapur Tekendra Poudel said
that 33 people trapped in Suryabinayak and Madhyapur Dhimi were rescued.
