(Croatia), 23 July (HS): Five people were shot dead in a nursing home in

northwestern Croatia on Monday. A gunman, whose mother had been in the nursing

home for ten years, shot five dead including his mother, and injured six

others. One of the injured died later died in hospital taking the death toll to

six.

The motive

behind the attack was not mentioned.

Croatian

media reported that the gunman, born in 1973, is a war veteran. He fled the

spot but was later arrested by the police.
