Lilongwe, 11 June (HS): A Malawi military aircraft carrying Vice-president Saulos Klaus Chilima was reported missing. Nine others were travelling with him.
The efforts of the aviation authorities to make contact with the aircraft failed since it went off the radar, the office of the South African country President said in a statement. The plane left the capital Lilongwe on Monday but failed to make a scheduled landing at Mzuzu International Airport.
Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera ordered a search operation and cancelled his trip to Bahamas. Chakwera was informed about the missing aircraft by General Valentino Phiri, Chief of Malawi’s armed forces.
