Dhaka, 11 June (HS): The 30 members of the armed terrorist Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) group were shifted from Bandarban to Chattgong jail. They were arrested in connection with bank dacoity and stealing firearms in the Ruma and Thanchi regions of Bandarban.

They were transported to Chattgong under heavy security of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Bandarban authorities said that they were shifted for want of adequate space. At least five KNF members were killed in an ambush between May 23 and 29. On April 2, they abducted Sonali Bank MD Nizamuddin and attempted the theft of ₹1.5 crore. The group members also attempted to loot two banks in the Thanchi region on April 3.
