Massive fire in textile factory warehouse in Meerut


Meerut, 9 May (HS): A massive fire broke out in the warehouse of a garment factory in Partapur industrial area late on Wednesday night. Fire brigade vehicles brought the fire under control after five hours, by then goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. As the heat increases, the cases of fire are increasing in Meerut. In the month of April alone, 159 incidents of fire took place, in which goods worth crores of rupees were burnt to ashes. More than 50 fire cases have been reported so far in the month of May.

Vishu Gupta and Sachin Gupta, residents of Surya Palace of Brahmpuri police station area, have a sports wear manufacturing factory in the name of Bhagwati Textile in Partapur industrial area. Late on Wednesday night, a fire suddenly started in the warehouse on the second floor of the textile factory. Within no time the fire took a terrible form. The flames were visible far away.

Seeing this, nearby people gathered and informed the factory owner. On information, CO Brahmapuri and Partapur police reached the spot. After this, fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire started. Meanwhile fire became so severe, it took almost five hours for the fire brigade to extinguish the fire, by then goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt. Chief Fire Officer Santosh Rai also reached the spot. According to him, the cause of the fire in the factory is being investigated. The presence of fire fighting equipment in the factory is also being checked.
