Lucknow, 9 May (HS): Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 13 seats where voting will be held in the fourth phase in Uttar Pradesh. Akbarpur parliamentary seat came into existence in 1962. In the 15 parliamentary elections held so far on this seat, the biggest victory was by a margin of about 3 lakh votes. There was also a contest in which victory and defeat was decided by a difference of only 0.03 percent votes. In the year 2019, BJP candidate had won Machhilishahr seat by only 181 votes.

Ram Awadh reached Delhi by a margin of 156 votes: A total of 14 candidates contested to win the Akbarpur parliamentary seat in the 10th Lok Sabha elections held in 1991. Of which 7 were independent. Janata Dal (JD) candidate Ram Awadh won. Ram Awadh received 133,060 (27.04%) votes. BJP's Bechan Ram stood second. Bechan Ram got 132,904 (27.01%) votes. Everyone held their breath till the last round of counting. In the end the decision came in favour of Ram Awadh. Ram Awadh won this election by a margin of only 156 votes. In this contest, BSP stood third, Janata Party stood fourth and Congress stood fifth. The deposits of Janata Party and Congress candidates were confiscated. In this election, 492,087 voters cast their votes and elected their MP. It is noteworthy that this was the country's smallest victory in the 1991 Lok Sabha elections. After the delimitation of 2008, this seat became a general seat.

The biggest victory is in the account of BJP: In the 15 elections held so far in Akbarpur seat, the biggest victory is in the account of Devendra Singh alias Bhole Singh of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 2014 general elections, Devendra Singh received 481,584 (49.57) votes. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Anil Shukla Warsi, who stood second, got 202,587 (20.85) votes.

The BJP candidate won this contest in his favour by a margin of 2,78,997 lakh votes. SP candidate and Congress's Rajaram Pal stood third and fourth by getting got 15.13 percent votes and 9.97 percent votes respectively. BJP candidate Devendra Singh had won from here in the 2019 elections, when his victory margin was 2,75,142 votes. Whereas in the 1977 elections, the Bharatiya Lok Dal candidate had won the election by a margin of 2,11,826 lakh votes.
