Sibal expresses objection to Prime Minister's 'Vote Jihad' comment

New Delhi, 08 May (HS): Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal has objected to the portion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in which people were called upon to choose between 'Vote Jihad' or 'Ram Rajya'.

Kapil Sibal countered the Prime Minister's statement and said that crossing 400 is needed so that Babri does not lock the Ram temple again. Kapil Sibal has called it a violation of the code of conduct but also said that the Election Commission cannot put a lock on these statements because they are also 'Medi's family'.

Addressing a rally in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the opposition Congress, saying that its intentions are very dangerous and calling for 'Vote Jihad'. He said, “India is at a turning point in history; You have to decide whether vote jihad or Ram Rajya will happen.”

Kapil Sibal expressed his objection while talking to the media today (Wednesday), saying, ...he (PM Modi) gave the statement that either do 'Vote Jihad' or vote for 'Ram Rajya'. Kapil Sibal said, “What kind of statement is this? “Won’t this get you support from all communities and classes?” Along with this, Kapil Sibal has also requested the Prime Minister not to make such a statement.

Speaking to the media today, Sibal said that the Prime Minister should not make such statements that 400 seats are needed only then Babri Masjid will not be able to lock the Ram Temple.
