Sam Pitroda resigns as Indian Overseas Congress chief after controversial statement

New Delhi, May 08 (HS): Congress leader Sam Pitroda resigned from the post of Chairman of Indian Overseas Congress after his controversial statement on Wednesday. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge has accepted his resignation.

Congress Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh gave this information through a post on social media platform X. He wrote, Sam Pitroda has decided to resign from the post of President of Indian Overseas Congress of his own free will. The Congress President has accepted his resignation.

It is worth mentioning that Pitroda's resignation has come after his recent comment on the colour of Indians. In this, he had described how Indians from different parts of the country look and described them looking like Africans and Chinese based on skin colour and facial features. His statement created a big political controversy in the midst of the Lok Sabha elections and Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly objected to his statement.
