Jharkhand High Court waives fine imposed on Arjun Munda

Ranchi, May 8 (HS): Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday waived the fine of ₹1,25,000 imposed earlier on union Minister Arjun Munda for mentioning the petition for hearing in the High Court without removing an error in it.

Advocate Prashant Pallav, on behalf of the petitioner, had requested the court to waive the amount of fine imposed on Arjun Munda, which was accepted by the court. Also, the court has maintained the stay on coercive action against 27 accused including Arjun Munda in the FIR registered at Dhurva police station in the BJP's Secretariat March case in Ranchi till July 25.

In the previous hearing, the court, while hearing the petition by union Minister Arjun Munda requesting to quash the FIR registered at Dhurva police station during the Secretariat March in Ranchi on April 11, 2023, found that the error in the petition has not been removed yet. Even after this, the matter was mentioned in the court for hearing. Later, the case was also heard in the High Court.

The court took seriously the mentioning of this petition for hearing before the court without removing the error in the petition and imposed a fine of ₹1.25 lakh on Arjun Munda. However, while hearing the case, the court gave immediate relief to 27 accused including minister Arjun Munda and banned punitive action against them.
