Nagpur, 08 May (HS): A food contractor was caught by the railway authorities for selling meals and beverages on Duronto Express, even after his contract expired last month. The vendors were using a fake identity card and uniforms.

The official of the Central Railway and Railway Protection Force carried out a surprise check to catch the vendors who boarded the Mumbai-bound train at Khapri and offloaded at Wardha railway station. The surprise check was carried out following a tip which that the Central Railway and RPF received.

Three vendors were held for illegally selling meals and beverages in air-conditioned coaches. The vendors were working under a contractor. The agreement with the contractor with IRCTC had expired in mid-April.

The Railway authorities have intensified surprise checking following incidents of food poisoning reported recently.
