Hapur, 6 May (HS): A total of 509 modified silencers for Royal Enfield motorcycles were confiscated in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur for causing noise pollution in the city.

Between January and April, the Hapur Police Department carried out Operation Patakha. Silencers from vehicles confiscated in the previous four months were crushed beneath a road roller. The authorities cracked the whip on motorcyclists who fitted customized silencers on Royal Enfield motorcycles, breaking the laws and adding to noise pollution.

Varun Mishra, Circle Officer, stated that the Operation 'Patakha' campaign was carried out in Hapur from January to April. During this campaign, the authorities confiscated the silencers from Royal Enfield bikes that had modified silencers mounted, contributing to noise pollution. About 509 such silencers have been demolished using road rollers.
