Nepal wishes to sort out map dispute with India diplomatically

Kathmandu, 06 May (HS): Nepali Foreign Affairs Minister Narayankaji Shreshtha said Nepal is in favour of sorting out disputes with India through diplomatic discussion. Shreshtha was speaking in connection with the controversial map published on a hundred rupee currency note.

Replying to the statement, EAM S Jaishankar said the ground realities cannot change. The decision to print the map was unjustified when diplomatic talks were in progress.

Following Jaishankar’s statement, the Nepali Parliament’s International Relations Committee discussed with Shreshtha. The committee asked the reason behind the decision to print the map.

The new map was accepted unanimously and based on it the national bank proposed to print the map. The process is normal and India should also accept it as a normal procedure, Shreshtha said.
